About the flow

Follow the motion.

Explore the swirling core of a fluid flow reconstructed from OpenAI’s Navier–Stokes paper. The ribbons trace paths through the flow, while bright particles and their trails reveal the direction of motion.

Color shows the rate of turning around the central axis: cooler colors mark slower turning, and orange marks faster turning. The velocity field is held at one instant so you can study its structure from any angle.

Drag to orbit, including directly above and below. Pinch or scroll to zoom.
Adjust
Particle velocity changes the speed of motion. Path Count sets the number of ribbons; Particle Count sets the number of bright particles and trails. Each count works independently.
Focus
Collapse Controls for more space, or choose Full screen to see only the model. Double-tap or double-click the model, or press Escape, to return.
Reset
Restore the initial camera view, 1× velocity, 116 paths, and 58 particles. With the model focused, arrow keys rotate, +/− zoom, and Home resets.
